FireProof-Movie Review

I went out yesterday afternoon before the doula was "supposed" to come. I had to stop at the store so I decided to check the Redbox to see if there were any good movies there. They had "FireProof" with Kirk Cameron. I wanted to see it, but was going to buy it. I decided renting it first for a $1 was better. Btw, I WILL be buying it!

There has been a lot of talk about it esp. in the Catholic and christian fields. (it is christian based) I think with the high divorce rate that EVERY couple should be required to do this "40 day Love dare" before a divorce is settled. This is also something you can watch before you get married and during your marriage. It makes you think a lot about why you got married in the first place and why you should stay married.

In the catholic faith, you are required to take a class and fill out a "test" as I call it before you get married. Myself not being catholic had NO idea this was going to happen. It was multiple choice and then you compare you answers to your fiance's, then talk it over with the Deacon or Priest. you can explain your differences. Its basically to help open up the lines of communication and to ward off divorce in the end. Keith and I did very well other than a few minor things that we did talk about. It seems we still know each other very well...b/c after the movie we went to the website and did a couple of the evals there and shockingly we still passed as a great marriage.

I won't say we haven't had our ups and downs, but so far we have had more ups. I do love him more today than I did the day I married him. I think that happens as life happens and you see them in a whole new light. I also think we all get so caught up in the day to day life that we forget about our spouses and the little things that you might have once done for each other. I know in our life it can get pretty mundane. But we never leave the house or talk on the phone without saying "i love you".

Neither Keith or I do believe in divorce so I know if it comes down to it we will get the help we need or do the "love dare". I am hoping to get a copy of it, just to have as a reference.

it is a great, wonderful, and thought provoking movie. It might even make you fall in love with him/her all over again!

So for your homework: go out and buy or rent this movie and curl up on the couch for a nice evening with each other! I promise you won't regret it!

I hadn't heard much about the movie until the last couple days. I'll have to rent it then. Thanks!
